Alessandro Michele, the man who single-handedly made Gucci cool again has injected some fresh new life into the 95-year-old luxury fashion house. Gucci’s latest Creative Director has toned down the sex and turned up the notch on geek-chic. The first time I saw the Princetown fur and leather slipper was on the streets of Milan, during the September 2015 Spring/Summer season. It was lust at first sight, unfortunately for me however, the slipper was sold out across Europe. It wasn’t meant to be.
To my surprise earlier this year, I walked into the Gucci flagship store in Melbourne only to be greeted with the Princetown slipper in my size. It was my Cinderella moment. The stars were aligned, it was fate, the slipper had found me. Needless to say, I walked out of the store a happy lad. As with any unexpected shoe purchase, the next question that popped into my head was, what do I wear with this shoe? I instantly thought of the khaki green monotone summer suit at Country Road. With my slippers in hand, I rushed to the nearest Country Road store and found the suit in my size and on sale. The shopping Gods were looking down on me that day, I couldn’t have planned it better if I tried!
Special thanks to the amazing Karen Woo for photographing my first outfit post.
