Not for the faint-hearted, the cut-out dress is one tricky trend to manoeuvre around. There’s no room for error, there’s nowhere to hide. Asides from the obvious, there’s also another challenge to sporting this trend, how do you wear a bra? In some instances, you simply can’t! If you are brave enough to try this trend, what should you look out for to ensure you err on the side of caution?
As with anything in fashion, the key to a successful outfit is balance. Whether it be in texture, colour or silhouette, ensure your cut-out dress does not show too much skin. Cut-outs at the top section of the dress can be balanced below by the length of the hemline. The two examples in today’s post are chic variations of this trend. Emily Highfield of stylebk.com, looks pristine in her white cross over cut-out dress. Similarly, Nicole Warne of garypeppergirl.com, is equally elegant in her black Michael Lo Sordo cut-out dress.
