The Sports Luxe trend is going from strength to strength and is showing no signs of waning. Ever since the 2012 Olympics, when Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani created team uniforms for the world’s leading athletes, luxury sportswear has been re-interpreted on the catwalk by many designers. Shapeless nylon track pants have been replaced with tapered sweatpants in fine cotton. Reflective neon stripes have been substituted with subtle zip detailing to create a more sophisticated line. On top of that, the rise of the designer sneaker has seen this once humble footwear go to price points in excess of $1000.
The subject of today’s post demonstrates how the Sports Luxe trend should be sported. The layering of the oversized zipped tee and leather-panelled hoodie gives his look some urban attitude. To finish it off, the ribbed sweat pants and metallic Maison Martin Margiela high top sneakers, adds the all-important luxe factor to this sporty ensemble.
