The double-breasted blazer is undoubtedly one of the hardest garments to pull off in menswear. It can be tricky for men who are heavier and smaller in stature. Its unforgiving nature can draw more attention to your physique. On the flip side, the double-breasted blazer can look extremely polished when done right. So what should you look out for when attempting to work this garment? The fit, a blazer that hugs the torso from the shoulders to the waist is a step in the right direction. Ill-fitting blazers tend to look boxy and can overwhelm your frame. For shorter guys, opt for the four-button blazer to give a more flattering silhouette.

The gentlemen featured in today’s post are fine examples of how the blazer should be worked. Paired with slim fit Bermuda shorts, slippers and a panama hat, the double-breasted blazer gives this polished look a hint of formality. The use of the leather glove as a pocket square is an ingenious way of accessorising the jacket. The second example demonstrates how nonchalant a boxy double-breasted blazer can be. Note that the blazer still fits well around the shoulders. The relaxed trousers balances the volume of the blazer and the use of grey and blue tones, gives this laid-back outfit an element of cool.
