Fairy floss and marshmallows, tutus and princesses, these are the things that come into mind when I think of the colour pink. Universally loved by young girls the world over, pink is one of those colours that is difficult to pull off if you are over the age of five, it can veer into Barbie territory if utilised the wrong way. So how do you give this saccharine hue a contrasting edge? Pair it with black. A classic colour combination, black balances the softness of pink. Choose muted shades for a sophisticated look or bright coral to make a bolder statement.
The examples in today’s post show how both men and women can work this feminine shade. Tiffany Newman of Divine Wanderer, works her pink blazer with skinny leather pants, adding a touch of toughness. Colin and Dasha Gold, the creative duo behind The Trend Spotter blog, work their pink blazers equally well. Colin’s pink blazer and black trousers is a classic match, whilst Dasha’s fuchsia blazer is contrasted well by her printed playsuit and yellow heels.
