If the words parka and anorak give you images of Seinfeld’s George Costanza (in Gore-Tex) or the Michelin Man, then fear not. The parka jacket has received a style overhaul these past few seasons. First it was embraced by the hipsters and cool kids, now it’s the go-to piece for any fashion conscious gal attending a music festival. Parkas and anoraks are also great options to throw over your wool knit for this winter season. They’re comfortable and practical, ideal for down-time dressing in cold and rainy weather.
I met the girl pictured in today’s post on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. She was on her way to University when I spotted her in her parka jacket. I love her overall look, it reads smart casual, appropriate for a day of study. I remember back in my University years, at the height of SWOT Vac stress, all I could muster up from my wardrobe were my sweats. I wish I took a little bit more care with my sartorial choices, it is possible to look good whilst in the midst of exam stress!
