her ensemble: 1950s flair

MidiSkirt
The 1950s ladylike trend is strongly back on the map thanks to the TV show Mad Men. After season one premiered in 2007, Louis Vuitton brought out its 2010 autumn collection filled with voluminous midi-skirt dresses that could have been plucked straight out of Betty Draper’s costume closet. Personally, I don’t think women should let go of this trend. Why wouldn’t you want to look sophisticated, elegant and refined?

Which brings me to the subject of this week’s post, the talented Kelly Thompson. Illustrator, photographer, art director, blogger and all-around style queen. I just love how she’s brought some modernity to her high waisted A-line skirt by pairing it with a midriff top and jean jacket. The proportions are perfect, just the right combination of classic lines and modern sassiness!
